v  Calling All Boxes: We are in need of child size shoe boxes. If you have any, please bring them in. You also may bring in cereal boxes, cracker boxes. We are doing a special project next week. I will need ALL boxes to come in by Tues. I need to have time to wrap them by Thursday for the project.

 

v  Book Orders: The orders are due on Feb. 21stBob books are great to buy right now. It is #10 in the Firefly order form. These books the kids can read. It’s right at their level for reading. I highly recommend them!!

 

v  Parent Conferences: I will have the conference sheet out for you to sign up for a conference in March 7-9. Mark your calendars these days will be ALL School ½ days 12:00 noon.

v  Save those soda tabs! Keep saving those tabs. We will be collecting them the rest of the year. When you have a baggie full bring them in.

 

v  Buddy’s Valentine:  Don’t forget to bring your buddy a Valentine and or a sweet treat.

 

v  Book Orders: The orders are due on Feb. 21stBob books are great to buy right now. It is #10 in the Firefly order form. These books the kids can read. It’s right at their level for reading. I highly recommend them!!

 

v  Field Trip: Friday we will be leaving around 9:15ish. Don’t forget to bring your car seat/booster seat. Wear your blue school shirt. We will only be getting BEARS at the Build a Bear Workshop. There will be 2 to choose from. I also want to mention that if parents would like to buy an outfit for the bear, to leave the outfit in the bag until you get home. NOT everyone will be able to buy an outfit and I really don’t want children crying because they didn’t get an outfit for their bear.

v  Family Appreciation Day: Just a few things that you will need to bring with you on Family Appreciation Day next Wednesday, Feb. 15th. 8:30-10:30. Please bring a family picture, type out a family bible verse, & type out your family names, people in your family, and if you would like to bring any type of scrapbooking paper to add to your family page you may do that also.  We will be putting together a class book of our families. Chapel will be from 8:40-9:30. 9:30-10:30 we will be having our family project with the scrapbook and snack together. If you are unable to attend the Family Appreciation Day, PLEASE be sure to send these items in with your child so they will be able to put this page together.

v  Math: counting to 100, touch point math, & counting with dice.

 

v  Sycamore Password: If you have not received your Sycamore password & directions sheet you may request it in the school office. You are able to get onto Sycamore now to see Friday notes and notes from the teacher.

 

v  Sharing 100 Items: Friday is our 100th day of school. Please be sure to bring 100 items to school. Example: pennies, marshmallows, legos, candy, pens, etc. Usually the items that you bring we will pass one out to each student to take home in a zip lock baggie. Be creative & have fun!

 

v  Honey Pots: The class will be working towards “honey pots.” There will be an envelope in your child’s cubby. DO NOT take home. The object is to have your bee in the hive at the end of the day. If the bee stays in the hive then you earn a honey pot. After 5 honey pots, then you will receive a prize!! Something fun to work towards. There will be a note in your Friday folder explaining the system.

 

v  Save those soda tabs! The fifth grade’s mission is to collect soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.  They recycle these tabs and use the money earned for children that they are helping. Last year they were able to earn $15,000 due to people like us who gave them the tabs!!!Please send in as many as you can before Feb. 3rd as we will be volunteering there on Feb. 3rd. Keep collecting all year long as we will bring them more tabs in the spring

v  NEW Snack Calendar: There will be a slight change in how you sign up for snacks. Licensing is requiring that each parent write down what you will be bringing for snack on your day.  We will need at least a 2 week notice as to what you bring. DON’T worry if you decide to change what you were going to bring. We can adjust the calendar. So, just be sure to write in the square what you will be bringing on that day.

 

v  Enrollment 2012-2013: Packets are available in the office NOW. Be sure to pick up your packet and register for next year’s 1st Grade.

v  Bible Lesson for the Week :  Jesus Heals a Man.  #21

 

v  Math: Touch Point #’s 1-5 & value of coins. Penny, nickel, dime, & quarter.

 

v  Field Trip: The cost is $13.50 for the bear and they can choose one of two types of bears. For the Build A Bear you can either pay in cash or write a check to St. Peter’s. For lunch I will ONLY take CASH. Money & permission slips are due THIS Friday Feb. 3rd. Please be sure that you get your money in NO later than this date!

 

v  100th Club: We will be having a 100th club. The idea is to have your child count to 100. We will have a cute little bulletin board posted and as your child counts to 100 we will be putting up their pictures. So practice at home counting to 100. We will also be writing to 100 that day. The 100th day of school is Feb. 10th. Also, keep practicing writing to 100 on  your 100 chart. I will be testing on this in 2 weeks.

 

v  Bring Pennies: We will be doing a special penny project this week. I need for everyone to bring in 3 pennies on Monday.

In order to get into the 100th club your child will need to count to 100 by 1′s. Once they count to 100 then they will have a certificate that will go upon the 100 club wall. Also, continue to practice writing to 100 as we will be having a test next month.

v  Field Trip: Feb. 17th. I have a field trip scheduled for the Build A Bear and lunch at Carl’s Jr. We will be going to Arden fair Mall for this field trip.  v  CAR/BOOSTER SEATS: EVERYONE is to have a car/booster seat. The State Law changed on January 1st.

 

v  Book Orders: Due on January 17th. The BOB books are in this order. #7 Firefly. I strongly encourage you to order these books. These are the books that your child can  read using the high frequency words they have learned.

 

v  Homework: There is a homework packet this week. Please return homework by Friday 20th.

 

v  Ice Castles: On Friday we will be building a class ice castle. PLEASE start freezing ice molds for Friday. The molds can be sand molds, cup molds, pan molds, shaped ice molds or anything you can think of. It’s also fun to put food coloring into the molds. If you can, please pop the ice out of the molds and bring in an ice chest with your name on it for the ice. I will NOT have room in our freezer, so you will need to bring an ice chest. The more ice we have the more fun it is and bigger we can make it. If anyone has any rock salt, please let me know. We use the salt as glue to stick the ice molds together. The students love this science project! Have fun!!

 

v  Valentine List: I have enclosed a Valentine class list for you in your Friday folder. Please start early so your child can write each student’s name on the Valentine. This is a fun day for the students and they always enjoy learning each other’s names. Have fun!

 

v  Telling Time & Money: This week we will be learning how to tell time and learn the coin quarter. A great Valentine gift would be a watch to tell time. NO digital watch.

 

v  Tacky Day: Is on Thursday. Come in your wacky outfits or mix matched clothes. It’s going to be a wacky tacky day!

v  Buddy Christmas Cookie Party: Thursday, Dec. 15th. We will be decorating Christmas cookies with our buddies and also having a sock exchange with them. Please be sure to shop for your buddy or buddies. If your buddy is a girl then you will need to buy girl socks the same applies to the boys. Each buddy is to receive one pair of socks.

v  Class Christmas Party: Friday, Dec. 16th. Special class lunch. ALL School is out at 12:00 Noon! Merry Christmas! We pray that you will enjoy the season with your family and friends. See you all back on January 3rd.

 

v  There will be NO Friday notecoming home next week. The letter for Jan. 3-6, 2012 is Ll. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2012 !

v  Christmas Program:Our class is in the process of practicing for the program. The program is Tues, Dec. 13th in the church at 6:30. Students may come to the classroom at 6:15 to be dropped off.

 

v  Field Trip: Sacramento Children’s Museum January 13thThe permission slip & money is dueback NO LATER than Dec. 9th.  Everyone, PLEASE be sure to get the permission slip & money in on time. Cost per person $5.00

 

v  Pajama Day: Dec. 14th will be our special ECC Building pajama day. EVERYONE is to wear their pajamas to school for a fun day with centers and special project with the preschoolers. Please be sure to bring a jacket and regular shoes to wear outside for recess.

 

v  Buddy Christmas Cookie Party: Thursday, Dec. 15th. We will be decorating Christmas cookies with our buddies and also having a sock exchange with them. Please be sure to shop for your buddy or buddies. If your buddy is a girl then you will need to buy girl socks the same applies to the boys. I have enclosed a buddy list of who your child has for a buddy. If your child has 2 buddies then you would shop for 2 pairs of socks. Each buddy is to receive one pair of socks.

 

v  Class Christmas Party: Friday, Dec. 16th. We will be having a special lunch for that day. I have posted a sign up sheet for items to bring for our luncheon. Please sign up if you can.
