Dear Parents,

Oh my, we have had one wonderful week. God has so blessed us. We had terrific valentine parties this week, one with our buddies and one with the class. Many, many thanks to Mrs. Rustad and Mrs. Fedor who stuck with me (literally throughout the day). I appreciate all the wonderful goodies that were sent in and a special thanks to Mr. Johnson for making those awesome heart shape pizzas. The children loved them! I would like to thank you also for Family Appreciation chapel, our lighthouse pages were beautiful. The children all had a great time creating them.

I want to give you plenty of warning ahead of time. Our chapel presentation will be Wednesday, March 22nd. We begin looking over our scripts next week. Yikes, time flies.

Upcoming Classroom Events:

Math: continuing with Chapter 7 “fractions”

     English: verbs continue

Writing: field trip observations and poetry

     Bible: God Chooses Samson

     Spanish: spanish speaking countries

Reading: class novel – Patty Reed’s Doll

Spelling: words from Patty Reed’s Doll

History: field trip to the California Railroad Museum – then picking back up on pre-gold rush era

Bible Memory Verse: “The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love.” Psalm 147:11

Science News:We will be choosing an electrical project to build in class. Although this is a group project, student will be graded on their part only. To review, ask your students to tell you the difference between current electricity and static electricity. We have also discussed safety, so ask them to review those rules for you. We built simple circuits this week. Ask them what they did and maybe even complete one at home. You would need insulated wire, a tiny bulb, and a C or D battery.

Field trip: our field trip to the California Railroad Museum will be next Tuesday, that’s the day we come back after a three day weekend, so don’t forget to have your child wear their blue St. Peter’s Shirt and bring lunch money. I so appreciate all my parents who are willing to drive, you make my job so much easier. These people are driving: Mrs. Pearson, Mrs. O’Brien, Mrs. Rustad, Mrs. Hironaka, Mrs. Prasad

and Mr. Paras. We will be going out for lunch at Five Guys Hamburger on Laguna Blvd. behind BJ’s restaurant. Please make sure your child has lunch money. Thanks.

ACSI Speech Meet: next week the students will be given the opportunity to select their poem, fable, or Bible verse for this year’s speech meet. We will begin practicing next week. The school wide speech meet will be on Tuesday, March 27th.

School Happenings:

22 February – Ash Wednesday – Pastor Salge’s last chapel

24 February – End of second trimester

2 March – report cards go home with student

     7-9 March – parent/teacher conferences – minimum days

27 March – elementary classroom speech meet – grades 1-6

Have a wonderful three day weekend. May God bless you and your family.
